Welcome to Windy City Subs
Windy City Subs sits on S Harlem Ave in Worth and fits the classic local sandwich shop lane. I find a spot that mixes deli comfort, American staples, and takeout ease with a calm dining room. The crowd leans local, with students, families, and solo diners sharing the same counter space and the same quick lunch rhythm.
The menu covers the hits people come back for. Gyros, Italian beef, Reuben, Chicago dogs, grilled chicken on pita, burgers, and subs all fill the board with familiar Chicago-area comfort. Side orders like butter garlic fries, garlic fries, cheese fries, pizza puffs, and chili keep the meal in the comfort zone. Shakes, malts, root beer, and soft serve bring a diner-style finish that feels right for this kind of stop.
Price points stay in the $10 to $20 range for most meals, with several items sitting below that. That makes it a practical choice for lunch or dinner without a big spend. Service options cover drive-through, delivery, dine-in, and takeaway, so the place works for a grab-and-go run or a sit-down meal. The late-night hours shape a loyal crowd too, since the drive-through stays open until 2 a.m. and the kitchen keeps moving after dark.
What stands out most is the mix of consistency and care. Reviews point to long-term staff, a clean room, and food cooked to order. That matters here. The pace can feel slow during a rush, yet many guests see that as part of the deal for fresh food. Windy City Subs feels like a neighborhood regular’s place, with a steady menu and a local specialty focus that gives it real value on a Worth dining list.

About
I see Windy City Subs as a casual stop with a clear local identity. The setting feels quiet, clean, and built for a simple meal without fuss. The dining room has seating, table service, a toilet, and wheelchair access across the key points, which makes the visit easy for a wide range of guests.
The location on 11208 S Harlem Ave puts it in a useful spot for Worth traffic and nearby neighborhoods. Free parking helps, and street parking is part of the mix. That makes quick stops less of a chore. The drive-through adds another layer of ease, especially for evening and late-night meals when a line forms and people want speed without leaving the car.
I notice a strong community feel here. The crowd includes locals, groups, tourists, and university students, which gives the place a broad but grounded energy. It suits lunch breaks, dinner runs, and solo dining. Reservations are accepted, though many guests seem to treat it as a flexible drop-in place. Payment is simple, with cards and NFC mobile options in play.
Families fit in too. Kids’ meals, high chairs, and a kid-friendly setup keep it practical for a casual outing. The atmosphere stays relaxed, and that can matter as much as the food. Windy City Subs earns attention through reliability, local favorite status, and a format that matches how people eat in this part of the Chicago area.

What People Say
Most Liked
Guests praise the gyro plate, the butter garlic fries, and the late-night drive-through. Many also point to the shakes and malts, plus the Reuben, Italian beef, and grilled chicken on pita. Clean tables, kind staff, and made-to-order food keep the reviews steady. The 2 a.m. hours matter too. That late-night window gives the place a real neighborhood lifeline.
Most Disliked
The main complaint is pace. Some guests say the service can feel slow, yet they link that to fresh cooking and a busy drive-through line. A few people may want more speed at peak hours, especially on Friday nights. For diners who expect fast food timing, the made-to-order style can feel like a tradeoff.

I've been here an array of times throughout the last several years and the food here is great. One of my most favorite things to get here is the gyro plate. The same staff have been working here for years and are always very kind and courteous!! The shakes and Malts are really good too. They have late night drive thru here until 2am.

When we lived in Palos Hills, we used to go to Windy City Subs very often. Probably once a week and it has always been a treat. Prices are reasonable and everything tastes pretty great. Today I shared a Reuben sandwich with an order or butter garlic fries with the hubby and it was absolutely fantastic! Nice and hot and crispy. Will continue to visit this place if I'm ever in the area. One of the things that makes me a bit sad now that I've moved. Continue the great service, cute and clean restaurant and delicious food!

Delicious. Affordable. Open until 0200. What more could you ask for? The butter garlic fries are addictive, fair warning. The service can be a little slow but that’s only because the food is cooked to order and there is typically a line in the drive thru. Pictured: double cheeseburger, butter garlic fries, grilled chicken on pita. 10/10 recommend strongly for that greasy food fix.

Wow. I am so happy I finally made my way to Windy City after driving by it on my commute for many years. Basically, I wanted a gyro, and I wanted to dine in. This place is so clean, it’s gleaming, and the sunlight just pours in. I don’t know of a fast food place with a dining room this nice. Not a single crumb in sight. Really. It was so peaceful too; the energy was just right. Ok. The food. Amazing. I don’t eat fast food often, so when I do I want it to be worth it. My meal was made to order, and it came out so hot and fresh. I enjoyed every bite. All the while, the staff was working together nonstop. Never a moment of nothing for them. Whether they were cooking, cleaning, stocking, they were moving the entire time. They were so pleasant and happy. Makes me think they like working there. Most establishments are short staffed. Not here! Thank you for a GREAT dinner. Thank you for your hospitality. Can’t wait to do it again.

I ordered everything special, lol. Gyro with grilled onions and tomato, no pita, double tastiki sauce on the side (knowing this will be 2 meals for me). The order was ready quick and perfect. The taste is always good.

Ok so we moved away from the Chicago land area, but when we come back home we ALWAYS come and get our windy city fix--AT LEAST ONCE. It reminds my husband and me of home. It's a hard feeling to describe but there's just something comforting about it. And they are open late which has always been great for us especially when we even lived nearby for some late night eats when we would work late. They don't have places like this other cities and states and I will say this is the best place like it around. Best place to get a Chicago style dog and a hot ham and cheese. Hands down

Stopped by on a whim a few days ago. This place has been here forever but I finally stopped to see if the food is as good as I'm told it is!! So let me start by saying that getting your food is no issue. Drive-thru works nicely, but be warned that the traffic on 111th can be loud so you might not be able to hear as well. Got to the window, payment was easy as they accept electronic payments in addition to cash. Got the food, and it was a wrap!!! The food is standard fare: burgers, hot dogs, fries, things of that nature. I ordered the hot dogs, a double cheeseburger and garlic fries. The hot dogs were not mine, but they were good (I got a bite! 😂)! The garlic fries were to die for, they were that good!! Let me warn you all also: they don't skimp on the fries. They give you a LOT!!! I am 238 pounds and I could not finish them! Now for the double cheeseburger, it was good, but my only criticism is that there was so much lettuce (which can have a higher water content) on the bread that the bottom bun got soggy. Let me be clear, the burgers were nicely done, though. So maybe they can go easy on the lettuce in general? Anyhow, I'll definitely go back. Good food worth the money, especially those garlic fries!!! Food......A- (would be an A+ if not for the soggy bun) Ambiance....B Price....B Customer service....A+
